Welcome to the Sheetmetal Section of 69hemi

When we got our Charger the Chicago winters had not been kind to the sleek Mopar and the sheet metal was a little thin in places. The strongest thing on the floorboards was the carpet. The trunk mat did keep things from falling through the trunk floor and the quarter panels did a good job of collecting water and rust. Overall the metal phase of the car looked the most daunting. We will cover the restoration of the car's sheet metal from replacing entire sections to spot repairs. We decided to disassemble the entire car and have it dipped to strip all the paint and rust from the shell to see what was really underneath all that crud. After getting it back from the dippers we started in on the metal and went from there. We will also share methods and tips on the repairs. Many of the tips I will share came from fellow restorers as well as just things we thought up that worked well. While there are many way to carry out the repairs that we will show you, we will describe not only how we did them but also why we did certain thing the way we did. So get out your box of Band-Aids and take a trip down sheet metal way.
