The next step was to use the PPG surfacing sandable primer so we can fill some pits. This stuff is great as it fills most minor pits in one coat and sands like a dream. While we were at it we fixed the rust spot behind the hinge with Duroglass filler and touched up what little surface rust there was with POR15 then primer over that.

All the prep work has been done and it is ready to get it's coat of blue. I shot enamel in the compartment and did it in three coats. The first coat goes on pretty wet then wait about 15 minutes then put on a second wet coat and right after that open up your gun and dust on the metallic to even it out.

Here it is all rewired and detailed. We re-wrapped the wiring with the tape with no adhesive on the back and used a contact cleaner to clean all the connectors to ensure good electrical connections. All the bolts and fasteners that we removed were cleaned and re-plated with Eastwood's cadium plating kit. This deal works pretty well for small items like brackets & bolts but not so hot on anything larger.
