Here is the area in front of the left wheel well cut out. I was going to try to save this section but after poking around it was too far gone to save. I used a patch panel from Sherman & Assoicates and cut around the rust until I got to solid metal

You can see the black spot on the inner rocker. this is the POR 15 ocating I gace to the metal after I had cut out the bad spot and welded in a patch. The POR 15 coating will stop any future rust here.

I have measured around the cuts and trimmed the patch panel to go over the spots by about an inch. This will give me a nice size to double-cut both panels and satrt the welding

Here is the patch panel started to be welded on. As on all my patches I cut both panels together and this leaves a small gap between the panels that is easily welded. Take your time and fit the panels many times before welding as a little extra time here makes the final works so much easire and smoother.

This is waht it looked like after the welds are dressed and the panel is finished!

These are the first coats of Duroglass filer. I like using Duroglass as the first coat as it is super strong and provides a great base for the remaining fillers.

The panels has been filled and blocked smooth so it is ready for primer and paint. None of the filler in this shot came out to more that 1/16" thick so it will be smooth and not have any problems in the future.

This is what the car looked like after blocking it with 220 grit paper. This was done to smoothe our the old paint and give a good base for the primer. My wife has many hours in blocking this car.

In this shot you can se where I have painted the behind the grille area black as was the original. I used 30 degree flattened black and masked along the original paint lines. I have to admit that I probally got it smoother than the factory but what the heck it looks nice.
