Welcome to the Restoration Section of 69hemi

A restoration of a car this rare requires patience, money and a huge amount of work. While I can't teach you patience, or lend you money I will try to show you how we did the restoration, tools we used, places we got things from and some time and cost saving tips. I don't even pretend to think this is the tell-all book of Dodge Charger restoration like some others have published, just my take on how I did it.

Since this one was pretty rough we will take you through dipping the car to strip it and then show the results. This dipping gave us the exact knowledge of what could be saved and what could go. In the Sheet Metal section we look at all the sheet metal parts of the car and cover the replacement of the bad ones and the restoration of the ones that stayed. This section finishes up with the second dip and the e-coat process so rust will never be an issue again.

The Body & Paint section will cover all the bodywork that needs to be done after the sheet metal work is finished. Tips on types of paint & fillers as well as processes are covered as well as panel alignment. This section wraps up with the unveiling of the new paint and the way we got there.

The mechanicals such as engine and suspension will be covered in their own section again with tips, techniques and sources gone over. It is getting pretty exciting here as the big Charger starts coming together.

What is a muscle car without a bitchin' interior with a four speed shifter and bucket seats? The restoration of the interior is pretty extensive as almost all the pieces needed major work or at least touched. Check out the modification of a console to fit the four-speed shifter, the restoration of the classic dash and recovering seat basics 101.

Since this is as far as I have gotten on the car, I will add other tool bars as the project progresses until it is rolling down that highway!
