This is a great trick I was just taught. To those of you who already know it shame on you for not sharing. I wanted to take the springs off my hinges to exchange with some others that had no pitting. I was trying how to figure out how to get them off without shooting them into my fresh quarter panel when a friend showed me this little neat trick. Take a piece of chain and hook the end of the spring on it and just pull it off. No muss or fuss and no broken fingers or your wife yelling, “ You're going to put your eye out” |

To install just reverse the process...pretty cool huh? |

I got a valence from the guy in Pittsburgh that I scored the font fenders from and it was pretty rust-free and straight. After a trip to the dippers and e-coaters all it needed was the center brace tacked back on tight and a little massaging. Here it is after a coat of filler and sanding. |

This is where the most work took place. The original spot welds on the brace had pulled free and I had to re-weld the brace on. A little dinging with the dolly and hammer and a little filler and this area is super-smooth and ready for the primer. |
