Take the doors, spray them with Scrubbing bubbles bathroom clearer, scrub them with a toothbrush, put them in your dishwasher for 2-cycles or so without the heated drying and you are ready to start

A common item that breaks on the doors is the little tab that is the closed stop. I made this one from a slice of an old cracked grill. For all my plastic repairs I use a plastic epoxy from a hobby store with a lightweight cloth mat for strength. After that sets up I sand it lightly and use some glazing to get it ready for primer.

The 3M scratchy pads work well on removing old paint and get a good finish for the primer to grip. Just remember you are holding and sanding on 35 year old plastic and it is very brittle.

I wrapped the Scotch Brite pad around a popsicle stick to work on the grate of the grill. It takes the paitence of a Saint to do this but it is wroth it as the fins will be clean and smooth.

Small nicks and pits can be filled with the plastic epoxy then sanded smooth with a small amount of glazing compound and they vanish when painted.

Here is a good view of the imperfections that the factory had with the paint job on there grils. Two trains of thoughts take place here in you could do a sloppy job which is factory correct or......you can do a nice job and make your self happy. Do what you feel comfortable with but I took a lot of time masking the pieces so they came out nice.

Make sure there are no cracks arount the holes that hold on the "I" trim piece. Since this is one of the farthest forward places on a Charger it usually gets whacked and cracked. If you do come across any cracks just use the plastic epoxy and glass matt method and you will be able to save the piece

Here is a shot of the backside all roughed up and ready for a light coat of primer. I used an aresol filling primer and just put on a light coat so I could sand some of the imperfections out then prepped it for the black layer.
