Fuel System

The first step on the fuel system is to install the tank. Actually it usually one of the first things I put on the car. Take your time and be sure to center the tank, as this will cause fewer problems with interference of the tail pipes later. I use a good clear coat on the tank so it will stay shiny but the true metal tones come through.

Get your lines roughly in place then install the hoses to the tank and the lines. I use a wide band clamp as opposed to the spring loaded ones that were stock. I have always had leaking problems with those and there is nothing worse than a fuel leak taking pain off your new resto. Also please don't forget to install the ground strap here at the tank to ensure your sending unit works correctly. It is a little strap that goes from the sending unit pipe around the rubber hose then clips onto your metal line. Without this strap your ground could be compromised and your fuel gage shaky.

Here is a better view of the clamps i was speaking of in place on the fuel/vapor seperator. The original clamps here were a band clamp that was squeezed into place. Good idea, if you have the squeezing tool, I don't. These clamps look much better that a worm clamp and really secure the hoses.

Here is the business end of the lines. Make sure that the lines clip into the little clips along the frame with no tension on them or they will pull out later. Also keep the little caps on the lines until you hook them up to avoid any junk going into your fuel system.

Another shot of the lines and how they really hug the frame. I got mine from Inline Tube along with the brake lines and E-Brake cables. Watch the forums at different Mopar sites for a group but and save some$!

Take a little extra time where the lines cross the frame as they need to be correectly lined up here to avoid the exhaust and so they don't rattle against the frame

Here is a shot of the lines on the motor. Note the special 90 degree fitting on the rear carb. They are hard to find so don't lose yours. I hunted through three auto parts tubing bins before I came up with one.
