Fender

Well, I was hoping to save the original fenders but that had some internal rust issues that just would not be right on a Hemi car. I took on an 11-month search and finally scored some rust-free ones from Pittsburgh. My daughter, Molly, and I took a rocket ride from Wisconsin to Pittsburgh and back in a weekend and dropped them off at the dippers on Monday for a bath and e-coat.

After their bath I was happy they did turn out to be rust-free but not so pleased with the hack bodywork hidden by some mudslinger. This crease in the rear edge of the driver's side will be a hard one because the brace is behind it so it will be hard to get in and straighten it out.

Here you can see a few holes drilled into the fender by a past body man to slide hammer the dent out. Pretty amazing that he did not weld these holes back up but just slathered on the mud and called it a day. These wont be to hard to fix but still just another thing to do.

Not too bad on the passenger back lip just a few dingers to dolly out and a little sanding will make this one look great. If given the choice of dents or rust I will always take dents because you have a solid base to work with

The front edge has some issues, as it seems Mr. Slide Hammer also paid a visit to this fender. This one is a litter tougher as it is a long crease and includes the marker light recess. Well, we will have to see what we can do with this.

Except for the crease on the front, this one is in great shape. Until Goodmark or someone starts repopping fenders the prices will continue to climb as the supply dwindles, so if you need fenders be prepared to look long and hard for good ones

A few dingers and bad body work marks on the top of the fender but again, an easy fix. These can be reached from behind so just some hammer & dolly time and it will be ready to rock.
